Habitat & Terence Conran changed the face of Britain :

I have been an avid collector of Habitat Catalogues for several years now...they give a fascinating insight into how we lived...have lived..and how we have changed our lifestyle over the decades ! There is no one more influential than my  former employer and design hero..Sir terence Conran ! He furnished and accessorised my early life through my mothers obsession with all-things Habitat !

He influenced all our worlds and we forget by how much...these document that influence..which continues today !
In 1964, Habitat revolutionised our homes with its affordable, desirable designs.

“Without Habitat, it is doubtful that we would have duvets, woks, globe-shaped Japanese-style paper lampshades for pendant lights, flatpack furniture, Sabatier knives, chicken bricks or Le Creuset casserole dishes.
As the satirist Craig Brown put it, before Sir Terence Conran and Habitat, “there were no chairs and no France”.” taken from the Guardian by Harry Wallop

It seems a shame he never developed a garden retail side to habitat....but I am sure that is another retail influence waiting to be developed by someone else !
